how to deal with haters
  • Rome wasn’t built in a day

When you’re young it’s easy to think that in a few short years you’ll be living like the people you see on TV. But most don’t understand what it’s going to take to get there.

Fast forward 15 years and your 30 years old still grinding every day with the same vision in mind. The quote Rome wasn’t built in a day is something we hear young, but is certainly something that’s not truly appreciated until we’re far older and carrying a few battle scars.

  • I’d rather be tired than broke

I see this around 20 times a day on Instagram, but I always think, how many people are genuinely making this sacrifice?

There’s 24 hours in a day, most people sleep for 8. That leaves 16. During that time we have a life to live, we have to eat, shower, shop, drive, talk and more. Most successful people rule out daily essentials first. They remove friends, relationships, then cut down on eating, go days wearing the same clothes. They eventually realize that sleep is the thing taking up the majority of their time.

People can say this quote, add a nice picture as the background and act like they know what this truly means. But until you’ve gone an entire week with only 21 hours sleep in total under your belt, it’s just words.

In conclusion, it really is better to be tired than broke, it just doesn’t feel like that first thing in the morning.

  • Sacrifice who you are for who you want to become

Most people see this as a transformation quote, but it’s far from it. The true meaning of this quote is about giving up things you love.

Sacrifice means giving something up in exchange for something else. Successful people gave up their childhoods, their teenage years, countless parties, relationships, potential relationships, sex, alcohol, tasty food, or whatever it might be that you’d like to do, eat or have, in order to live a future life that’s unachievable for 99% of people.

The level of sacrifice needed is only something that people begin to realize after they add a few miles to the clock and find themselves going in circles.

  • One good WOMAN is worth 1,000 GIRLS

This doesn’t mean settle down now! It means be careful. Good women are rare. By good women I mean one’s that can actually add something to your life, most women still have the mentality of little girls, caught up in that Disney fantasy life they grew up wishing for.

Make every woman on planet earth look the same and we’d suddenly see the true picture. The majority are doing nothing, have no ambition to do anything and rely far too heavily on their looks to get by in life.

Learn to separate the good from the bad early on in life and save yourself a ton a wasted time and money.

  • You become like the those who you spend the most time with

This quote sounded interesting when you were young, but avoiding that trouble making friend, or that party animal was hard, they were good fun.

However after a good 5-10 years, you begin to see people’s lives unfold. Unsurprisingly, the people who stuck together become clones of one another.

The ambitious people become successful, the party animals haven’t really moved forward and the gossipers are still worrying about everything except their own life.

The scary thing about this quote that only gets revealed years later, is how accurate it is.

  • Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work

Another Instagram quote that everyone loves to like, but no one really follows through. Until you begin outperforming those who you know are far more talented than you, this quote means nothing.

People you went to school with who were high flyers will eventually work for you. Those who were destined for greatness will come and ask you for advice.

It’s a strange situation especially when you know deep down that you use to look up to them and wish you had their talent/intelligence.

  • Men are like steel, when they lose their temper they lose their worth

Being that aggressive guy who can bench the most, scare others into doing what you want and has a wild temper is great until around age 21. Anything beyond this and you look like an uncivilized barbarian.

You’ll get to a point in your life where you realize that drama, shouting, screaming and other such events aren’t worth your time. Life is best lived when you’re relaxed and in-control. The moment you lose your temper, regret reveals its ugly head.

  • You can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink

When you’re younger you aspire to become rich, successful, and maybe even famous with all of your friends by your side. You may even talk about it with someone who also wants the same things.

However time reveals all. Some will put in the work, others will remain talkers. Over time, you’ll spot the deadwood and offload these individuals from your life.

It may even get to a point where you’re the last one standing. You can waste your time trying to help others, trying to encourage and motivate them, but until they want it themselves, until they find that burning inner desire, you’ll be wasting your breathe and more importantly time!

  • You only fail when you quit

This is more about how much you can take. We’ve all watched someone else do something, or watched a dramatic part of a movie and thought that we could do what they did.

A man gets knocked down in a boxing fight, and we scream at the TV for him to get up. But until you’re in that situation you have nothing to say about the matter.

You see it’s easy to say how much you think you’d be able to take, but it’s another ball game to live it. You only fail when you quit sounds great, but try hanging on when your entire world is crashing down around you and it seems like all hope is lost.

It’s true that we don’t fail until we quit, we actually learn. However it doesn’t feel like learning at the time and these tough lessons can soon overwhelm you. Suddenly failure doesn’t dent our pride like we thought it would.

  • If there’s no enemy within, then the enemy outside can do us no harm

No matter what is said about you, what happens to you, or how low you get, as long as your own mind is positive, then nothing else matters.

Everyone in the world could say one thing about you, but as long as you believe something else, yours is the only one that counts.

Your mind is the safest place in the world if you want it to be. Something could be highly embarrassing, but it doesn’t have to be in your head. Something could be a huge failure to everyone else, but in your head it’s a necessary part of the journey and leaves you unfazed.

That area inside your mind belongs to you. It’s the only place in the world that no one but you can access. Protect it with your life, use it to your advantage.
