humanity being held back

It’s a question that’s been raised for centuries. If we could go back and kill baby Hitler, would humanity take a major leap forward?

The question can be put to so many negative events throughout history. If racism and slavery never existed, would society be considerably more advanced in modern times?

If religion never caught on, would we now be a multi-planetary race with technology beyond our wildest dreams?

It’s a sad thought for any technology enthusiasts, and a sad thought for many young people who have grown up without things like racism, religion and war being forced into their lives.

Just think how many potentially great people, people who could’ve invented groundbreaking technology far sooner, have been lost to war, or to slavery, it’s a sickening thought.

Westminster Terror Attack

Take the Westminster terror attack that took place on the 22nd of March 2017.

Because of this outdated view on religion, and some would say outdated view of religion in general, millions of people were distracted, in mourning and focusing on issues that do not benefit the human race whatsoever.

It also means that the next budget allocation will probably have a sizeable chunk that goes towards weaponry, anti-terror and so forth, rather than being allocated to worthwhile causes such as AI technology or cancer treatments. Two things that have life changing uses for people all around the globe.

Constantly Putting Out Fires

Imagine if Leonardo Da Vinci was called up to fight in a pointless war when he was in the middle of inventing extraordinary things, or painting the Mona Lisa.

Or if Nicola Tesla became a devout religious believer and condemned everything technology based during his most creative years. The human race would be a good 100 years behind it’s current stage.

In fact, due to greed, Tesla was held back. His work on free energy for the whole world were crushed by electrical companies who were thinking of nothing more than profits. It’s taken until the modern era for humans to begin looking into Tesla’s work once more.

Because of the outdated views found all around the world, the people who could take us forward are either constantly putting out fires, or not being given the funding needed to advance.

Without the threat from the Middle East, North Korea and Russia, funds could be heavily invested into technology, education, training, facilities and more. However due to a small portion of the planet still living 100 years behind everyone else, we’re forced to hold back on our growth.

Just think how many potential geniuses, entrepreneurs and game changers never got to go to school because the money needed for their investment went to providing guns and ammo in the middle east, or on nuclear testing.

Forced Hand

The problem is, we can’t simply ignore these individuals, they’re a real threat. It reminds me of the film Transcendence featuring Johnny Depp.

In this film the main character played by Depp, discovers a breakthrough that will revolutionize the human race. As he leaves a conference he’s shot with a poisoned bullet.

He eventually dies and a great mind is lost because of outdated religious beliefs.

If we didn’t have these people and we were free to operate as we wanted, then humanity would accelerate at such a rate, that it would only be beneficial for all of us.

Stem cell research is a field where large investments would lead to millions of saved lives and improved quality of life for so many.

However due to so many people getting angry about the playing God part, stem cell research has had slow growth, forcing the people involved to search for independent funding and to practice in locations such as Tijuana.

Just look at Germany as an example of potential advancement.

In Germany there’s no restrictions on stem cell research. However in the US, a very religious country, stem cell research is frowned upon.

Germany is now decades ahead of the US in this area and making large breakthroughs.

Stem cell research is a relatively young field, imagine what kind of leap society could make with lets say, 100 uninterrupted years and significant funding. The results would be staggering and the differential would be enormous.

This is exactly what would’ve happened had it not been for endless wars, religious disputes and other outdated views.

Distractions

Imagine how much good Nelson Mandela could’ve done in this world had he not been distracted by racism in South Africa. If South Africans were able to get along prior to Nelson being born, then they could’ve experienced 30-40 years of life with a great leader and a true icon of humanity at the helm.

Instead Nelson spends half of his life in prison accomplishing nothing, then having to put out fires when he got out. All because some people didn’t like the fact that others had darker skin than they did. Melanin may be the sole reason why South Africa isn’t landing on the Moon right now, think about how stupid that is for a second.

The problem with putting out fires, is that you’re only ever going over previous mistakes. No advancement is taking place, and this is a major issue for anyone who has the potential do big things.

The Solution

Religion isn’t all bad, even if you’re a non-believer you can appreciate the importance it plays in some people’s lives. However it has held the human race back significantly with little proof of existence, that’s undeniable and somewhat silly.

We need to stop living like medieval people with outdated views and expel the real problems such as extremism.

The majority are being heavily held back by a few, and that’s not right. The more people that recognize this, the faster we’ll advance, the faster love one’s will stop dying from things like cancer, the faster we’ll be able to visit other planets and so on.

We’re all in control, let’s start being as smart as we believe we are and put our outdated views to the side for the benefit of humanity.
