mens fashion confidence

Men’s fashion took a while to get going, but in modern times it’s thriving after substantial growth.

Sadly men’s fashion did lack identity for many decades. If you saw one man wearing one outfit, then you could walk around the corner and spot 5 more wearing similar if not the same.

Men’s fashion has been safe for too long. A shirt, jeans and modest footwear has been the go-to for most men, and we’d leave the experimenting to women, but times are changing.

Growing Confidence

Men in the modern era have decided to push against the norm and become rather experimental with what they’re wearing.

This isn’t to say that everyone is getting it right, there’s still some terrible concoctions, however it’s the confidence aspect that’s encouraging.

You could be wearing the world’s worst outfit, but if you’ve chosen to wear it because you like it, then that’s significantly better than dressing to fit in.

Of course this new found confidence isn’t about going over-board and wearing the most extravagant outfit possible. But we are seeing a more European approach to men’s fashion worldwide. This approach is very Italian/Spanish, where men are praised for adding something extra, rather than accused of being homosexual which is one of most outdated beliefs one can have.

Why can’t men dress up a little? We’re bored of plain suits and formal shoes, let us throw in a mustard turtleneck and a black fedora now and again if we so wish.

These outfits might not be for everyone, but that’s the whole point, less people are seeming to care anymore and it’s great. It’s about time men were given more freedom with what’s acceptable in terms of fashion.

Streetwear

Streetwear has really jumped on this opportunity and brought things forward significantly.

With so many colors and options, streewear has produced some extremely extravagant looks as we can see from some of the individual images above.

The Message

Elaborate a little.

All men need a mindset switch when it comes to fashion. It should no longer be, “what will everyone say if I wear this?” Instead your first thought should be “If I like it. I’m wearing it”.

This kind of thinking breaks down barriers and opens the path for other men with less confidence to follow your lead, which gives everyone the identity they wish to have.

We already have enough clones in this generation, go a separate way, find your own style and enjoy yourself while you’re doing it, that is what fashion is truly about.
