rely on yourself

Relying on others is a necessary part of life, but giving these people all the power isn’t wise.

During the industrial revolution in England, factory owners would train their workers in one area of production, but they wouldn’t let them learn anything else.

They did this to prevent these workers going off and starting a competing business.

In your own life, you need to avoid becoming that worker who relies on others.

If someone else is the only reason that you’re able to do something then you’re in a dangerous position.

Dependence

Imagine getting a major opportunity but it’s so far away that you need a lift each week to get there. If the person who gives you a lift is busy one week then that’s strike 1. If public transport isn’t running that day, then it’s strike 2. If you don’t have the money to get a cab then that’s strike 3.

In each of these situations you’re relying on others to come through for you.

The smart strategy is to put the power in your own hands. Get a drivers licence and a car. Now you only rely on you, and YOU care about your future more than anyone else.

Now imagine being in business. Lets say you have a guy who edits all of your videos for you. If this guy quits, or gets ill then the videos don’t get edited.

It’s in your best interests to learn what he does even if you don’t have to do it. This way you take away the overly heavy reliance your business has on this single individual.

If there’s only ever one person in your business who can do something, then that’s not enough. This is giving too much power to one person, and it’s dangerous.

It’s like sports superstars. Some are simply that good, that the entire team relies on them and they get paid significantly more. In a sporting sense, this is because most people can’t just learn to be as good as someone else. But in a business sense you can always learn to do what others can.

Finally imagine having a girlfriend who works a 9 to 5 and you don’t. She tells you it’s fine because she loves you anyway. You believe that everything is great because money is coming in and you’ve got a great woman.

But in this situation she controls your entire life. At any moment she could decide to leave you. The second this happens you lose love, sex, your income, probably your home and most likely your happiness.

Controlling Every Aspect

Whether it’s emotionally. spiritually, financially or anything else, you need to be in control.

If you rely on others, it leaves you in a difficult position. If they let you down things go wrong. If they decide to destroy you they can. If they have difficulties then these are shared with you and crossover into your own life.

If the person who drives you to work each morning doesn’t have enough money for repairs, and the car stops working on the way to work, then you’re late too. Even though it’s their issue, you’re going to suffer just as much because of your reliance upon them.

Once Your In Control

Being in control has a distinct feeling. It’s one of maturity and independence. Where you can do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it.

No one has any power over you because you don’t need them for anything. This is something every man should aim to feel, it’s a position that really gives you a feeling of making it in life. All of the previous pressures and concerns begin to fade away, and life becomes far easier.
