USA, Canada, Mexico world cup

USA, Canada and Mexico have officially launched a joint bid between the three countries to host the 2026 world cup.

The tournament will consist of 80 games, 3/4 of which will be played in the US including the final, with the remaining games being played in Canada and Mexico.

It’s reported that President Trump is highly supportive of the bid.

The bid is of course a heavy favourite due to the sheer scale of the event. It could create the greatest Soccer spectacle we’ve ever seen, which is something that Fifa would be very keen to make happen.

The average attendance when the US hosted the 1994 World Cup was 69,000, the highest of all time for a World Cup event. You’d expect that to be beaten with bigger stadiums being built and the rise of the MLS in recent years.

Mexico have the 4th highest ever World Cup average attendance, and with Canada being more than capable of building and filling a giant stadium of their own, it opens the door for an event of truly global proportions.
