How to wear a goatee

The goatee has always had negative publicity. For some strange reason anyone with a dark-side, such as paedophiles, serial killers and rapists, have opted to rock a goatee.

It could be a coincidence, or perhaps there’s a physiological reason for this. Either way the goatee has been frowned upon and considered a strange choice when grooming your facial hair, which really hurts those who are normal everyday people just experimenting with style.

This style was very popular during the heydays of Burt Reynolds and Hulk Hogan, but it fell off due to negative connotations.

However in the modern era we’re seeing a return of the goatee through a modified version of the original.

Traditional

The traditional goatee still has some negativity associated with it. Any man who chooses to wear one is walking a tightrope, make it too obvious and neat, and risk looking like a serial killer. Blend it too gradually and it’s no longer considered a goatee.

But there’s another more modern option that many of the highest level men have chosen to rock.

Detached

The detached goatee is very similar to a zappa, a style where the moustache and chin stubble are not connected by the side lines, or at least the side lines are very thin/ and barely noticeable.

This style is far more popular because it feels more acceptable by being less manufactured, and doesn’t carry the negative connotations along with it.

The traditional goatee looks like you’ve spent time trying to perfect it. The detached goatee however looks as though it may have grown naturally and fits your face far better with the natural angles of the male face.

Here’s some examples of the more modern and detached goatee.

The detached goatee is easy to achieve. It’s a far safer option that still looks like quite an exciting style.

Many top level men within the fashion industry and modelling industry are choosing this style, and you can see why, it’s extremely clean without looking like you’ve tried too hard, and that’s a tough look to achieve.
